KK recently introduced a programme named after the famous scientist, Edison with the aim to boost innovation to make new competitive solutions.
Overall, the idea is to satisfy our customers’ current or future needs for lowering the cost of energy by turning an idea into a product or service with speed and urgency, using minimal resources. The programme therefore contains different elements which target innovation with different approaches:
Sprints
Short and focused efforts to create a minimal viable product. Typically sprints have a duration of 3-8 weeks and involve 1-4 dedicated people. Two sprints are currently ongoing, namely Design flux technology and Service 4.0, with expected completion in the beginning of June.
Hackathons
Events of any duration where people come together to solve problems creatively. It's about providing space and time for people to make headway on problems they are interested in and does not have to be about technology.
"Think of a Hackathon as a pit-stop on a long journey to solve problems or as a training session to prepare participants for solving problems," Says Lasse Skov, Manager, Concept Development.
The first Hackathon – with the theme “Big data” - will start in week 22.
X-lab
X-Lab is a place for all KK employees as well as our customers to get inspired and stay updated with new technology gadgets. The X-lab is located in Ikast and offers the opportunity to build and test employees’ ideas, and use it for sessions of creative problem solving.
Lasse Skov says: “With the first sprints we are now running, we are looking into interesting new initiatives for the energy industry. We are bringing the voice of the customers directly into new technology and service offerings to make sure we have the right fit for the end user needs.”
