Technical Lead

Name: Rasmus Nielsen
Position: Technical Lead, Engineering & Development
Education: Electronical engineer
Been with KK: since 2004

What is your work like?
I have worked with developing embedded components and complete control system solutions for wind turbines. Today, I also accompany our Sales staff at customer meetings where I function as the technical expert and also handle the dialogue with the customers afterwards. I enjoy being in the cross field between ‘the real world’ and the technical and theoretical base striving to understand and meet customer requirements. Recently, our close cooperation with customers resulted in a case where we improved the customer’s turbine park performance by 10% by installing our upgrade solutions. That was really rewarding to be part of.

Why do you work at KK?
Denmark’s leading position within renewables, and wind energy technology in particular, represent interesting challenges which appeal to me. Furthermore, the company size of KK means that you are not lost in the crowd but it is still big enough to give you a wide variety of opportunities. It never becomes routine.

How do you contribute to the Wind Power Wizards culture in KK?
I combine existing knowledge about control solutions for wind with new knowledge from the field through customer dialogue to understand how we can make an important difference to our customers’ business. For instance, one customer contacted us because of vibration problems in some turbine types. We looked into the problem and came up with a solution, which we also published in a white paper called Rotor imbalance cancellation.

In addition to the normal work, I am part of an external examiner corps at DK universities for engineering educations. This enables me to stay updated with the newest development within the field, give input to the course material used in the engineering educations and keep contact to the university world where I meet potential new KK-employees and cooperation partners.
