What is your work like?
I am a fitter which means that I work in the production, mounting electronic components. The fitters’ job is to test if the layout for prototypes provided by the hardware engineers is actually possible to produce – if things fit in reality, and to check that the engineers’ descriptions and drawings as well as the values on the components are understandable.
In the production, we meet for a daily management meeting to get a status on things that affect our work e.g. the supply chain, the different KPI’s related to the strategy, safety focus, etc. The fitters furthermore meet on a daily basis to distribute tasks and align deadlines.
We work with heat sensitive components – so-called SMD ‘Surface Mounted Devices’ and HMT ‘Hole Mounted Technology’ which requires specific training to handle. I’m not saying that we are the only ones in the world who can do this job, but you cannot just walk in from the street and do this job. We hold different certifications required by our customers.
However, what makes us really good at what we do, is our ability to inspire and help each other. If one colleague has found a smarter way of doing things, we share this knowledge with each other.
Why do you work at KK?
I used to work in the retail business, however, I realized that this way of working – with the flexible working hours – just matched my family life better. I have been here for more than ten years now, and this is because I really like this place. We continuously get challenges in our job – for instance when contributing with finding ways of improving our products or production processes.
At KK Wind Solutions, you can talk to anyone. Also in my position as a staff club representative I get the impression that we are ONE company.
How do you contribute to the Wind Power Wizards culture in KK?
I contribute with ideas for new tools that we cannot buy – but have to develop ourselves. Tools that ease our daily work and improve the working processes.
